When my youngest sister had been away for over a year, missing Christmas and family dinners, her absence settled quietly into the house, most visible in my mother. Then, in December, a bouquet arrived, unexpected, carrying her warmth and promises of celebrations when she returned. It held both distance and closeness at once. That is where this painting comes from. Not from a single feeling, but from that contrast, the way something can be both heavy and full of light at the same time. Where absence meets presence.
